Middle School - Mental Well-Being

Mental health includes our emotional, psychological, and social wellbeing. It affects how we think, feel and act. It helps determine how we handle stress, relate to others, and make choices. There is a clear connection between mental health and school performance. According to the world health organization, mental health is “a state of well-being in which every individual realizes his or her own potential, can cope with the normal stresses of life, can work productively and fruitfully, and is able to make a contribution to her or his community”.

In order to improve the mental health of middle school aged youth you need to promote social and emotional competency, teach positive behaviors, learn how to reduce stress, teach drug resistance skills, increase their feeling of self-worth, and learn proper nutrition and exercise routines. ARISE offer life skills curriculum in the Life skills for Middle School.
