High School - Dropout Prevention
What can you do to keep students from dropping out of school? Talk to them about what life would be like if they drop out of school. High school dropouts face extremely bleak economic and social prospects. Compared to high school graduates, high school dropouts are less likely to find a job and earn a living wage, and more likely to be poor and to suffer from adverse health outcomes (Rumberger, 2011).
Many youths do not realize what their life will be like if they drop out of school. In order to make good decisions about their future, youth need to be armed with information on why dropping out is not a good idea and why staying in school will help them reach their goals.
