ARISE groups, a safe place to talk and learn, are often life-altering experiences for troubled youth.

At-risk youth leave the boredom of their daily schedules to meet for 45-60 minutes in groups. Group facilitators, most trained by ARISE, lead discussions and conduct activities on one of the many ARISE life-skills topics—anger management, personal hygiene, and self-esteem to name a few.

During these sessions youth rarely need encouragement to participate because they are given the opportunity to voice their opinions without fear of being ridiculed, put down or pressured to put up a front. ARISE groups offer an opportunity for these troubled youth to register their worries and concerns with someone who has the time to listen. They often discover that what they thought were unique problems are shared by many.

Since 1996, ARISE-certified facilitators have led thousands of ARISE groups, totaling over 4,000,000 hours. The program seeks to equip high-risk youth with social and coping skills that are effective in decreasing violence and destructive behavior.

Teachers, psychologists, volunteers, clergy, and many others have taken ARISE Life Skills Curricula and/or Training and implemented them quickly and easily to meet the needs of their current program. Some have even started life skills groups from scratch using the ARISE materials.
